I have expressed my love for this look before. I know in today's fashion yes and no's it's not for everyone.
I LOVE stockings with mules. I grew up with a Aunt that wore them daily. She had a big role in kick starting my RHT nylon foot/heels fetish. All she ever wore was ultra sheer RHT stockings with 4 inch spiked heel mules. 
For women that know and understand men's weakness for nylons and heels, its the best tease to all us nylon fetish guys...The look just whispers out, "Look at me, look at me good!"
So for me RHT stockings with spiked heel mules still is my biggest fetish combo weakness!

Hello Monty,
I wear RH&T and Seamed stockings with my sandals always. I rarely wear closed pumps. I'm one of those retro women that love to show off the knit work. The look don't suit everyone but like BlkNYLONS and EllenMurphy I like the look. You know if you look at the SHQ Home Page you see the lady in the upper right corner advertising or maybe better adverteasing what we are talking about here. She's in seams and open heel and toe sandals/mules etc. So there is a very good example of what looks pretty foxy! That's a seller for the site and what a beautiful visual head line it is! And I'll guess EllenMurphy looks just as classy!

Recently, Mrs. Farmgirl thrilled me by wearing her black knee length wool skirt, black opaques and black leather mules. I love seeing every bit of her leg right down to the heel. Sigh.

Well obviously they are erotic because more of the natural foot is exposed Nothing beats nature itself no matter what we do to improve our appearance in terms of clothing makeup etc

Why are they called mules anyway?
I never where them as they always fly off my feet especially when wearing stockings. I'd like to totter down the street without the fear of losing my footwear at any moment especially on cornering.

whether you need to use a more descriptive name than slides all depends upon how much info you feel the need to give. After all you can say you are wearing pants, jeans, designer jeans, or Gloria Vanderbilt jeans.
If you said pumps, it does not necessarily mean 5 inch heel stilettos does it? They can be dowdy 1 inch block heel librarian shoes or six inch CFM's made for the most daring exhibitionists right?
I have seen mules made with mid to low heel as well as very nice 5inch heels. ANd that same shoe was often described as slides by the shoe stores when advertised.
