| Germany culture / translation - the credit card "V" code |

Hi people,
How would I explain the 3-digit "V" code that is on the back of a credit card in the signature panel to a German, in an email? It would just be easier to whip out my wallet and show my credit card's V code. But since this is through email, it isn't as easy, and I'm not going to make a video
I need my customer to realize that I need their card's "V" code so that I can charge their credit card and dispatch their merchandise. They realize that I need their card info to ship their merchandise, but they don't seem to understand that I need this "V" code and not just their card number.
Suggestions please!
x
Mike

Hi Mike,
Try: "Sicherheitsnummer, letzte 3 nummer, rechte seite hinten..."
ok?
Love,
Nikki.

Update - actually I should have posted this on Monday. My customer finally understood what I needed and gave me the correct 3-digit code, so I was able to charge their card and dispatch their order.
Many thanks to Nikki, I sooooo owe her one! Is it any wonder that she's one of the few people in SHQ that's been in a dream of mine

You could have used a Google image search to find a web page that explains what it is and just sent the link for that page to the other person to look at.
Examples: www.evertize.com/vcode.htm and www.officialsecureinternet.com/secureconnect/ccvc/ccvc.htm

The V-code is known as the CVC or CV2 code in some places.

Actually I suggested that the customer look at some webpages (I gave them a few links), but I don't think they understood what I was suggesting. They are German and we communicate in German together, usually at a trade fair where we are together and speaking and using sign language.
But in email it was much tougher, which is why I needed German culture / translation help. And Nikki provided it, and I am really very grateful because once I used Nikki's words, the customer knew immediately and responded with the information.
I was very chuffed with the situation.
