100% nylon Pretty Polly
Today Pretty Polly, like Aristoc, is part of Courtaulds Legwear, but the company took its name from a race horse owned by a bookmaker. His daughter started a hosiery company, took the name, and a phenomenon began. By the 1930s Pretty Polly was famous for making high quality silk stockings and by 1939 annual sales were in excess of 48 million pairs. Pretty Polly is now the UK's top selling brand with a range that both attempts to recreate the glamour of yesteryear and combine the latest in hold-up technology.
